“There are no separate departments for promotion, coordination of work, the literary department, which are very necessary entities, but sometimes they create a discursive layer that sometimes strongly deviates from what is going on in the rehearsal room, and can even turn into a shell of illusions and normative prescriptions – when one produces over-the-top narratives about what theater is, what acting is, what an evening at the theater is supposed to be. In Komuna this works organically – the distance between the kitchen, where everyone drops in for coffee, the stage, and the rehearsal room is small, and when several creative teams are working simultaneously, the exchange is direct and fertile.”
