Welcome to the Birthday Ball by Mothers Dana & Polish Trailblazer Bożna Elle!!!
We are inviting you to the very special event – celebration of ballroom culture, but also the birthday party of Polish Mothers of International House of Elle!
We know you’ve been waiting for this ball – and trust us, so have we.
Tonight, we honor the roots of ballroom culture, created through the brilliance, resilience, and resistance of Black and Latinx trans women and queer people who built spaces where self-expression became survival, pride, community, and power.
Hosted by Polish Trailblazer Mother Bożna Elle and Mother Dana, this evening is about fantasy, connection, joy, and the freedom to become whoever we want to be.
So let’s shine.
Let’s connect.
Let’s celebrate.
And don’t forget… let’s make a WISH!

What is a ballroom?

Ballroom culture was created by African-American and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities in the 70′ in New York City. It comes from the culture of Drag Queens, who used to meet at underground balls in Harlem where they competed with each other in many performative and dance categories. Since then, balls have become an inclusive and safe space for free expression for queer youth of color. In addition to many categories related to performance and dance (Voguing), the ballroom is characterized by the creation of alternative family models such as House, vocabulary, music, or its own social hierarchies such as Icons, Legends, Statements, and Stars.
Ballroom Culture is a safe(r) space that prioritizes QTIBIPOC. Please be mindful and respectful of who the space is for. Before stepping out on the runway, please get to know the ballroom history and the rules of a given category. If you have any questions please contact us here: balubozeny@gmail.com
And remember!
Any form of discrimination will not be accepted during the event. If you feel that your safe space has been violated, report it to the security and event organizers.
