LGBT+ Community in Canada: Road to Freedom

final day of the exhibition: 31.08

Canada is widely recognised as one of the most open and inclusive countries in the world that respects the rights of LGBT+ people. However, this level of acceptance and legal equality did not happen overnight. The exhibition tells the story of Canada’s journey – full of activism, hardships, victories and an ongoing fight for rights.

Through moving photographs, historical narratives and personal testimonies, the exhibition showcases the courage and perseverance of individuals and communities who have fought for their rights and contributed to building a more just society. It is also a reminder that the struggle for equality continues – both in Canada and around the world.

The official opening of the exhibition will take place on 9 June (admission by invitation only), after which the exhibition will be open to the public until 31 August. Admission to the exhibition is free.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of this unique opportunity to reflect on the universal struggle for human rights and to celebrate the progress made to date, while being mindful of the challenges that still lie ahead.
