“The old woman was sowing poppies, she didn’t know how. And the old man knew, didn’t tell, because after drugs he sat dead”. Poland, 201X. Epidemic of legal highs. The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate raps about their harmfulness and a new strand of anti-drug poetry is spreading in schools across Poland in the form of competitions.
“‘Above the roses, below the corpse. They’ll include your grave in the price of dopes” – we go back in time to the days when legal high shops sprung up like mushrooms after the rain, and the paperbacks of Łamignats and Cherry Coccolino were a permanent fixture on the landscape of Plebiscytowa Street in Katowice. We would like to invite you to Plebi – our former flat next to Energy 2000, to the shop Funny Things. The history of the street and its inhabitants, emerging from urban legends, tripraports, reports, articles and the city’s fabric, reworked into a sum of flashbacks and moving images. At its centre, a huge red hasiok – a symbol of the war between the passive power apparatus of the metropolitan capital and the merchants of death. Placed by the city mayor in front of the shop entrance as a barrier to stop the consumption of dopes by thrill-hungry collectors. In the GIS film on legal highs, we see interviews with addicts interspersed with videos of club parties. Not explicitly, but the rave is brought to the junkie scene. We enter into a polemic with the narrative of Polish drug policy convinced that night parties in urbexes and the depths of musty basements are all about trance dancing and music. These are the values of Peace Love Unity Respect. It is a new ritual that can save humanity. We understand legal highs as an error in fulfilling the human need for transgressive experiences. We want to invite the audience to experience a psychedelic landscape of voyage, dark ecstasy, pulsating bodies, a comic grey zone of absurdity. The movement form draws from club styles such as hakken, jumpstyle, hardstyle. Passed through the bodies of those trained in contemporary dance technique, it creates an energetic mix of extreme dynamics leading to unbridled releases and explosions. We invite the viewers to perceive the world in a sensual way, not geared towards understanding and producing opinions.
We view the creative process as an act of collective thinking, exchange, improvisation in both chaos and structure. With a focus on inclusivity and democratisation. We are not interested in celebrating genius, but in working creatively with the body, memory and their limitations. We want to create for ourselves the working conditions we need, which we have not experienced in systemic education.

Julek Ploski non-stop making Music and this Music is always about his feelings and is always (too) personal. His current ➝Sound← is what he calls an Epic Collage of bombastic, Hollywood trailers; melodramatic pianos; hardcore raves; liminal, trappy accents; incel metal riffs and sound designer, growly classical music. Julek loves his Software -FL STUDIO-. In 2023, he released his third album 〈 Hotel ***** 〉 on the American prestigious label Orange Milk Records and 〈 Matcha latte, Contemplation EP 〉 on the Polish label Dyspensa Records. In 2024 he will release his fourth album and maybe even a fifth and maybe even an ep. it will sound a bit like the sequel to 〈 Hotel ***** 〉, but with a lot less pomp and a lot more liminality and delicacy, and a MIDI sound component. He plays Audio-Visual concerts, which he illustrates with animations. Julek does them himself and they sort of thematically compliment his Hollywood-Liminal ➝Sound← Julek ploski™ doesn’t have a healthy relationship with his instagram self narrative (i.e. the so-called Avatar). Life is moving too fast for him, but he still falls asleep seamlessly — maybe even too seamlessly.
