Hello Darkness My Old Friend, curator: Markus Öhrn
In 2021, we invited Markus Öhrn, a Swedish visual artist working in video, sound installations and performance, as curator of the residency program.
At that time, as many as four works by young artists selected in the open call and twice as many performances by established artists were produced. In addition to the curator’s master performance, the projects were realized by Marta Ziółek, SIKSA and Grzegorz Laszuk.

Markus Öhrn
He made his debut in 2010 with the production Conte d’Amour, which won first prize at the Impulse Theater Festival in Germany (2011) and later became the first part of a trilogy (We Love Africa and Africa Loves Us, 2012 and Bis zum Tod, 2014. These works were shown at the Theatertreffen in Berlin; Wiener Festwochen in Vienna; Festival d’Avignon; Festival Transamerique in Montreal; Theater Der Welt and at Nowy Teatr in Warsaw, among others. In 2015, he began experimenting with site-specific projects and serial formats. His works in this trend include Azdora (2016), Adventskalender (Volksbühne, 2015), Wir sind die Guten (Volksbühne, 2017). In Poland, he created the play Heroes of the Future at Komuna Warszawa (2014) and Sonata of Specters at Nowy Teatr (2017).
